The Smith 2016 Preliminary Report on Measurements Involving Shungite referenced in this thread has not been independently verified against a primary copy of the report during the audit pass dated 2026-05-02 / 03. The ResearchGate URL previously cited resolved to an unrelated paper. The Smith yeast / photograph / K-coil findings described below are reproduced from earlier Research-thread drafts and may not match the actual contents of the report. Treat the specifics as pending re-verification, not as confirmed source content.

Of all the items in Cyril Smith's 2016 frequency-measurements report on shungite, the K-coil result is the one that connects most directly to mainstream chemistry, though through Smith's own framework.

The K-coil frequency pattern

When Smith excited his shungite specimens with K-coil (a copper-can-antenna scalar-wave coil designed by Korobeynikov, see Shkatov & Zamsha 2015), the imprinted water frequencies came out in a five-based decade pattern:

- 5.000 × 10⁻² Hz (↑)
- 5.000 × 10⁻¹ Hz (↓)
- 5.000 × 10⁰ Hz (↑)
- 5.000 × 10⁺¹ Hz (↓)
- 5.000 × 10⁺² Hz (↑)
- 5.000 × 10⁺³ Hz (↓)
- 5.000 × 10⁺⁴ Hz (↑)
- 5.000 × 10⁺⁵ Hz (↓)
- 5.000 × 10⁺⁶ Hz (↑)
- 5.000 × 10⁺⁷ Hz (↓)
- 5.000 × 10⁺⁸ Hz (↑)
- 5.000 × 10⁺⁹ Hz (↓)
- ↑?

L-chirality (↑) and D-chirality (↓) alternating across the decades. Same pattern across all specimens, pyramid, sphere, mobile wafer, computer wafer, necklace, loose chips.

Smith's chemical interpretation

"This is characteristic of the naphthalene chemical structure and reflects the basic carbon structure of Shungite."

Naphthalene is the simplest polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon: two fused benzene rings, formula C10H8. It is a planar aromatic structure with strong delocalised π-electron systems. In Smith's framework, every chemical structure has a characteristic frequency-signature pattern that can be read with the right coil. The five-based decade he gets from shungite he matches to naphthalene.

Why this might fit

Shungite carbon (C-sh) contains graphene fragments, flat, planar, aromatic carbon networks with the same delocalised π-bond topology as naphthalene, scaled up. The graphite-like packets in C-sh are essentially polynuclear aromatic structures. If Smith's framework reads aromatic π-systems via the K-coil, then shungite, packed with graphene-like aromatic fragments, should produce a strong aromatic-naphthalene-style signature.

Whether this maps to anything mainstream chemistry would recognise as a measurement is open. Smith's framework is its own thing. But the qualitative claim, that shungite's bulk carbon structure is dominated by aromatic π-systems, is also what mainstream characterisation (Raman spectroscopy, NMR, electron diffraction) shows.

Why the 5.000 specifically

Smith himself flagged this as an open question (item 5 in his "Further Work" list): "What is the effect of the 5.000 decade pattern? Is it a 'nil-potent' effect or a chirality or field configuration change?"

In his terminology, "nil-potent" means the field cancels itself out coherently rather than carrying biological information. The five-based decade may indicate that shungite emits a coherent cancellation pattern across the full spectrum from 0.05 Hz to 5 GHz, the kind of broad-spectrum field-flattening that, in his framework, accounts for the EMF-protection effect attributed to shungite.

Editor's note (2026 audit): Smith 2016 verification-pending notice

Edited 2026-05-03, source audit. Cited sources verified to exist; no fabricated sources detected. Where the audit could directly read the source (live English-language papers, open Russian academic articles), claims were compared against the source content and corrections applied above. Where sources were paywalled or geo-blocked at audit time, bibliographic plausibility was verified via parallel routes (publisher index pages, PubMed/PMC mirrors, cross-citations) but the source content itself was not always directly read. If a specific claim matters to you, click the source link and verify it yourself.

'Research' threads are entirely AI-assisted where it reads sources and comes back with conclusions and write-ups. AI in 2026 is a useful research tool, not yet perfect. Read the linked sources for yourself before treating any claim as settled. If anything sounds completely cockamamie and/or flat out absurd let alone wrong - feel free to assume why. That being said, with shungite, always do your own research. You may be surprised.
