The shungite pyramid: north-south axis, 50cm distance, 95% EMF neutralisation, the protective-stone artefact tradition

The pyramid as artefact

The Russian-tradition shungite-pyramid is one of the most-recognisable shungite-direct artefacts. The rock is shaped into a four-sided pyramid form (typical sizes ranging from 4cm to 30cm at the base), polished or left in its natural mineral surface, and placed in the home or workspace as a protective object.

The pyramid is not generic. The Russian-tradition framing builds the artefact's claimed action on the combination of two factors: the pyramidal geometry itself, and the specific properties of the shungite material that fills the geometry.

The geometric framing

The Russian-tradition pyramid lore inherits a long pre-modern set of pyramid-energy traditions: the Egyptian Old Kingdom royal pyramids, the Mesoamerican step-pyramids, the Mesopotamian ziggurats, the Chinese imperial-mausoleum pyramid forms. The Russian-source line phrases the geometric premise directly:

"Объекты в форме пирамиды оказывают на окружающую среду положительное воздействие."

Translation: "Objects in pyramid form exert a positive influence on the surrounding environment."

The geometry is treated in the Russian-tradition framing as concentrating an energy-field at the apex, with cone-shaped flows converging upward. The tradition draws on multiple historical pyramid-research lineages:

- The Sakkara variant: based on Djoser's stepped-pyramid form at Saqqara in Egypt, the older pyramid-architecture predating the smooth-faced Giza pyramids. The Russian-tradition framing treats the stepped geometry as producing an additional harmonising effect on top of the basic pyramid-shape action.
- The Golod variant: developed by the Russian engineer Aleksandr Golod (Александр Голод), using golden-ratio proportions for a steeper-pointed pyramid form. The Golod-pyramid research-and-construction programme ran a series of large-scale pyramids on Russian territory in the late 1990s and 2000s, with the proportions adopted into the smaller-scale shungite-pyramid tradition.

The shungite material

The Russian-tradition pyramid-action rests on shungite-as-medium: the carbon-rich rock filling the geometric form contributes its full set of properties to the pyramid's claimed action. The Russian-source phrasing on the shungite-pyramid effect is specific:

"Шунгитовая пирамида нейтрализует до 95% электромагнитного излучения."

Translation: "A shungite pyramid neutralises up to 95% of electromagnetic radiation."

This is the strong-form claim. The 95% figure positions the pyramid in the Russian-tradition framing as a primary household EMF-shielding artefact, designed to be placed near electrical appliances, computer workstations, microwave ovens, refrigerators, and other modern electromagnetic-field sources. The protocol

The Russian-tradition shungite-pyramid placement protocol has specific parameters:

- Orientation: pyramid placed on north-south axis (one face oriented north, one face south)
- Distance: within 50cm of the user, at user-level (desk-height for office use, bedside-height for sleep use)
- Locations: beside the computer monitor, on the workspace desk, on the bedside table, in offices, in dental clinics and psychotherapy practices (rooms where electromagnetic-field exposure is concentrated and where users spend long hours)
- Cleansing: the pyramid is taken outdoors every two to three weeks for at least one hour, allowing the rock surface to refresh in natural light and air

The water-charging variant

A small shungite pyramid (40×40 to 50×50 mm at the base) can also be used to prepare shungite-water by the same process as ordinary shungite-stones. The water-charging variant means the pyramid serves two functions simultaneously: an EMF-shielding artefact placed near the user, and a water-preparation vessel rotating water through three-day soak cycles for daily-drinking use.

The protective-stone lineage

Editor's note (2026 audit): The 95% figure circulates widely in Russian commercial-vendor copy. The closest peer-reviewed measurement is Antonets et al. 2021, which reports 90-95% / 20-25 dB shielding effectiveness for shungite plates of specific thickness and carbon content, not for free-standing pyramids in a room. Pyramids do not behave like Faraday cages; the 95% headline is best read as vendor-reported, not directly measured for the pyramid configuration.
